My biggest challenge in writing and revising "Prepare Your Own 501(c)(3) Application" has been how much to include.

Specific examples, like sample narratives, may be very useful to some groups but not useful, or even misleading, for others. In Prepare Your Own 501(c)(3) Application, I decided to keep the information general so that it would be useful for the greatest number of people. This also allowed me to keep the book relatively short and reasonably priced.

The first "supplement," published March, 2007, provides specific information for animal welfare groups. It has sample narratives and sample budgets, with my comments, as well as copies of relevant IRS rulings, and a list of animal-related group exemptions.
